A documentary about Lazaretto, the desert islet near the city of Corfu that functioned for centuries as a quarantine station as well as a place of execution for political prisoners during the Greek Civil War. The identity of the place is approached through fragmentary testimonies and original sources.
Spyros Kavvadias was born in Athens in 1993 and grew up in Corfu. He studied at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of Ionian University. His documentary “Lying upon a Rock” was his thesis.
Dimitris Gkrintzos was born in Kalavryta (Greece) in 1992. He studied audiovisual arts at Ionian University in Corfu. The documentary ‘Bread and a Blanket’ served as his thesis/diploma. He worked as a cinematographer in the documentaries: ‘Ayanadamar’ by Margarita Chalakatevaki and Spyros Kavvadias’ ‘Lying Upon A Rock’ which also served as diplomas. He is also keen on photography and electroacoustic music.
Margarita Chalakatevaki was born in Athens in 1993. She studied audiovisual arts at the Ionian University in Corfu. Her late work includes documentary filmmaking, music composition and music for performing arts. She lives in Athens.
