The innovation in AVfest 2013 was the first open call for the 2-day symposium "Art and Interculturality in the Mediterranean Region: departing from antiquity – looking towards the future" co-organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University and the Region of Ionian Islands. Counting among other speakers with Avi Rosen (IL), Julia Logothetis (AT) and Katerina Zaharopoulou (GR) the symposium’s keynotes were Maria Kampouri-Vamvoukou (GR) and Marc Mercier (FR). The 7th Audiovisual Arts Festival was also the beginning of the digital book series of the Audio & Visual Arts Department with the publication of the proceedings of the Symposium Art and Interculturality in the Mediterranean Region.
