AVARTS Live Game Hub is an action aiming to bring together new game designers and creators and showcase their ideas to the public. It is organized by teachers of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts with a coordinating core of Vassilis Komianos, Varvara Garnelis, and Emmanuel Rovithis, and is staffed by students who are actively involved in creating games.

The 3rd Audiovisual Arts Festival took place in May 2009 marking the “Five Years of Creation” of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts. Since 2004, through the cooperation between faculty and students, a lot had been changed and many more developments were on the way. Within this framework, the festival recognized its functions bridging the department and the local and wider communities, demonstrated by the spreading of the festival’s venues in the city of Corfu: the Old Psychiatric Hospital of Corfu, the Old Fortress, the Municipal Gallery of Corfu and the Municipal Theater of Corfu. Opening its program with the exhibition and presentation of numerous student works from both Art Practice and Media Theory courses, in 2009 the festival celebrates the first graduate students of the Undergraduate Program in Audio & Visual Arts: Nicholas Gregoriou, Christos Mousas, Nikolaos Moustakas, Vassilis Psarras and Giorgos Nikopoulos. Drawing, painting, installation and video projection events run in parallel with photography exhibitions organized by the active AVarts Photography Lab. Last but not least, a half-day symposium, counting with guest-speaker Alexander Sideridis, organized with the support of the Astronomical Institute of Corfu and the Greek National Gallery - Corfu Division, brings to discussion issues such as: art and virtual reality, collaboration of art and science and the pedagogic aspects in exhibition design.
