The 23rd Festival “Days of Electroacoustic Music” will take place on October 17–19 in Ioannina. The festival is organized by the Hellenic Association of Electroacoustic Music Composers (HELMCA) in collaboration this year with the Department of Architecture (University of Ioannina) and the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Ioannina (DIPETHE Ioannina).
Held annually since 2002 without interruption, the festival is one of the longest-running events of its kind internationally, presenting contemporary trends in electroacoustic and acousmatic music from Greece and abroad.
Representing the Ionian University, the PEARL Laboratory of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts collaborates with the ERHMMEE Laboratory of the Department of Music Studies in the implementation of this year’s festival program.
Over the course of the three-day event, nine concerts will be presented, featuring a total of 54 works by Greek and international composers. Among the participants, Professor Apostolos Loufopoulos will present his composition Whales(for bass flute and electronics, in collaboration with Myrto Korkokiou), while PhD candidate Thanasis Epitidios will present his work …την ώρα που… (…At the Time When…), inspired by the writings of K. Theotokis, as part of his ongoing artistic research.
As part of the festival program, there will also be a screening of the documentary film The Music of the Universe, dedicated to the work of Iannis Xenakis. The documentary is a co-production between the Department and Black Dog’s Productions, realized through an international collaboration involving five countries.
The production brought together several members and collaborators of the Department, including:
