The Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts Lab) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University is pleased to welcome back the Master of Research (MARes) in Hybrid Arts 2024-2025 student Nathalie Dubois-Calero for the second phase of her residency as part of the Artist-in-Residency (AIR2025) program at the Node of Hybrid Arts.
The second phase of her residency takes place during October and November 2025 at Studio YK3 on the Ionian University campus, completing the cycle of work that began in the spring (April–June 2025). The program provides access to the university’s research and production facilities, while her participation is integrated into the postgraduate curriculum and public program of InArts Lab.
Nathalie Dubois-Calero, a visual artist and biologist, holds a PhD in Biology from UPMC (France) and an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor (Canada). Her interdisciplinary practice combines scientific research with visual storytelling, exploring microbiological themes through media such as textiles, pH-reactive tattoo inks, nutrient substrates, and audiovisual installations.
At the core of her artistic research is the series "BacterVirHuman", which examines the relationships between humans, microorganisms, and viruses, addressing questions of identity and connectivity across multiple scales of life and perception. Her approach proposes a poetic, critical, and sensory engagement with the invisible forces that shape the living.
Dubois-Calero’s residency is part of InArts Lab’s ongoing commitment to supporting research-driven practices in hybrid arts and fostering collaboration and dialogue between artists and scientists.
