The artwork “NEW BONDS” is an interactive installation that explores the relationship between contemporary humans and digital screens, as well as the constant flow of audiovisual content. The construction consists of blinds placed in front of a computer screen, on which short videos are displayed, such as reels and shorts—forms of content characterized by speed, repetition, and endless consumption.
In front of the blinds, a motion sensor has been installed, which is activated when a viewer approaches the screen. At the moment of approach, the blinds begin to move, obstructing the viewing of the content.
The work functions as an artistic intervention and a critical commentary on the dominance of screens in contemporary daily life, highlighting the relationship between desire, access, and restriction. Instead of offering an image, it creates an obstacle. Instead of satisfying curiosity, it intensifies it.
In this way, “NEW BONDS” forms a reflection on the new form of “bondage” of our gaze and attention in the digital age.
