KLAATU BARADA NIKTO is a hybrid audiovisual work situated between sci-fi and contemporary artistic practice, exploring the relationship between creator and artificial intelligence, as well as the fine line between the artwork and the living organism.
The project begins with a global open call for the creation of “living” robotic entities. In isolated studios, artists develop organic, tentacle-like forms that gradually acquire movement and autonomy, suggesting a transition from the artificial to the living. The narrative shifts into a hybrid environment where a scientist—an AI avatar—refines a robotic system, while the space itself transforms into a living organism.
As the system activates, the distinction between creator and creation collapses. The human body hybridizes with the machine, leading to a transformative experience that extends from the digital realm into the urban environment. The work culminates in an exhibition setting, where life is presented as an object of observation and aestheticization.
Through the interplay of cinematic storytelling, videogame aesthetics, and installation-based elements, the work raises questions about technological autonomy, the ethics of creation, and the contemporary post-human condition.
