(RE)BIRTH
Theodoridis Christos
2026
Video Installation
Materials: Digital collage of organic matter (leaves, bacteria, fungi) in an ultrasound simulation environment, glass vessel, wooden base.
Dimensions: 40x50x27.
The project (RE)BIRTH redefines time as a biological pulse. The installation consists of actual samples of bacteria, fungi, and foliage, which, through digital processing, are transformed into a fluid, pulsating ecosystem. Here, "invisible life" acquires a visible presence in the form of an ultrasound.Just as a newly created cell initially functions autonomously, only to later coexist and reshape itself by uniting with others to form new matter, the same principle applies to life and existence as a whole. Therefore, through this specific piece, my intention is to broadly and simultaneously explore the concepts of birth/rebirth, time, and transformation, viewing them through the microscopic and barely perceptible matter of microorganisms. These concepts are undeniably rooted in biological and natural terms, while simultaneously expressing human existence in an entirely impersonal way. How can time and imperceptible matter be so decisive for existence itself, from one moment to the next?
