The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2023 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 5th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2023) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 12 May and on Saturday 13 May 2023. The year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Greek-born pioneer composer and thinker Iannis Xenakis, and is accompanied worldwide by events dedicated to his memory and work. To honour this Greek-born musician, a marathon concert takes place at Athens Conservatory, on Saturday 17 December, presenting works inspired by his musical work and his reflections on science and technology and the role of muscles in society and the arts. This event, which takes place at the Athens Conservatory from 7 pm until 3:30 am the following day, features musicians and artists from ten different countries (Greece, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, United States).

The META-Xenakis global symposium will be held online on September 30 and October 1, 2022, by various educational institutions across 5 countries all over the world connected via the web.

Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges. This year the International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges will be held online. It is hosted by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts (Ionian University) and depending on the pandemic circumstances there will be an option for physical presence. Conference dates: 28-29 May, 2021.

The program of the 14th Audiovisual Arts Festival, which will take place on 13-31 May, covers, as every year, a wide range of artistic, educational and scientific activities.

FACTT 20/21: Trans-disciplinary & Trans-national Festival of Art & Science opens on January 28 2021, at 8.30 PM (GMT) and will be exhibited online during 2021 with different events to be announced taking place throughout the year across continents.

The Museum of the Ionian University, with Director the Associate Professor of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology Stavros Vlizos, and the Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, with Director the Associate Professor Andreas Giannakoulopoulos, organize online tribute for the eighty years since the death of JAMES JOYCE. The artist and director Vouvoula Skoura curates the tribute, with the co-operation of the Assistant Professor of Art History in the Department of Audio and Visual Arts Elena Hamalidi. On Thursday, December 31st, 2020 and Friday, January 1st, 2021, the streaming of the projection mapping and the in situ performance which was created within the framework of the celebration by the Region of Ionian Islands for the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution took place. The artwork that will be projected, entitled "Sound and Light 1821 - 2021", was designed and implemented entirely by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

Professors I. Zannos, A. Loufopoulos, A. Floros and T. Valianatos partticipate via their works and research presentations at the fesival 'InSonic 2020', which is held online employing new broadcast technologies. The festival explores new formats and artistic practises, and this year is hosted by the ZKM-Herz Lab, in cooperation with EASTN-DC European Art-Science-Technology Network for Digital Creativity).

On Monday, December 7th, 2020, at 17:00 CET, an Informational Event (Promotional Event) will be held within the framework of the CIAK project ("Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema"). This informational event, which will take place online https://ciak.inarts.eu/, will host a detailed presentation of the already completed actions within the framework of the project.

The 4th World Congress on Geriatrics and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research “GeNeDis 2020″ entitled ‘Health in Aging and Mental Wellness in the new digital era’ will be held exclusively online, 8th to 11th October, 2020. GeNeDis 2020 is oranized by the Bioinformatics and Human Electrophysiology Lab (BIHELab) of the Department of Informatics, Ionian University, under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mrs Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

GOLEM - To be generative in solidarity rather than creative in solitude is an online collective performance event, curated by the collaborator of InArts Francesco Kiais. The virtual exhibition space will open to the public on June 5, with the vernissage at 18.00 GMT+3, which will be a presentation of the guests’ of honor participating artworks. On June the 6th and 7th the virtual exhibition space will be open to the public where an archive of the participating works will be presented.

Considering the ongoing spread of SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus) all over the World and under these unforeseen circumstances, the Organizing Committee of the DCAC 2020 is forced to announce the cancellation of the conference.

The Department of Audio and Visual Arts hosts the multimedia electronic opera performance project by Miguel and Paula Azguime, "Salt Itinerary", on February 12th 2020, 21:00, at Ionian Academy, Corfu, as part of its cooperation within the EASTN-DC project with scientific coordinator for the Ionian University Mr Ioannis Zannos, Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts.
