In this session, Angeliki Malakasioti will explore the role of visual storytelling in scientific communication, focusing on the research poster as both a medium and a message. Drawing from her background in architecture, digital media, and speculative design, she will share practical strategies for creating effective, visually compelling posters that not only inform but engage and inspire. Emphasis will be placed on design choices, layout logic, visual hierarchy, and how aesthetic clarity can enhance the visibility and impact of scientific work.

Angeliki Malakasioti is an Assistant Professor (tenured) at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts, Ionian University. She studied architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and earned her Master’s in Architectural Design from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, with distinction. Her doctoral thesis, Anatomy of the Digital Body – Spatial Aspects of the Self and the Immaterial on the Web, was awarded with honors, and she recently completed a postdoctoral research project titled Architecture of Melancholy – the Case of Video Games. She has taught in various institutions, including the University of Thessaly and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and participated in the postgraduate program Information and Communication Technologies in Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research and artistic practice revolve around digital image and composition, cyberspatial experience, speculative design, audiovisual representation, and creative methodologies. Her work has been recognized internationally through publications, conferences, exhibitions, and awards in experimental filmmaking, photography, and research-based art.
