“To Those of You Who Hear Me”
“The rally is tomorrow, we must all speak, bring forth proposals, and find solutions”.
In a small middle-class home in Berlin, Greek immigrants are preparing for tomorrow’s peaceful rally. Words that have stayed unspoken, feelings without someone to hear them, social unrest and oppression that leaves you silent. Tomorrow we must all speak, but also listen. Listen to Sofia, Agis, Ivan, Maria, Hans, Elsa, Gino, Nikos, and Trudel, who through their lives and their words, are here to speak to us about their world, and ours.
The timeless work of Loula Anagnostaki comes to the stage by the student theatre group of Avarts Theater. A modern take on a play written in the early 2000s. Through the eyes of the characters, we are invited to ask ourselves: how did we get here, where are we now, and what is our place in tomorrow? A realistic perspective on the experience of Greek immigrants, the sociopolitical conditions surrounding them, and above all, on the lives of people whom society has, in one way or another, cast aside.
