The installation consists of interconnected elements that aim to co-construct the relationship between human consciousness, materiality, and technology. A ceramic object equipped with an ultrasonic sensor detects the presence and movement of the viewer, activating or deactivating the motion of the structure (totem).
As the viewer approaches, the movement of the totem is interrupted—a gesture that suspends the narcissistic affirmation of the self through interaction. Presence does not reinforce the system; it weakens it.
Giorgos Ntolaptsis
“The ritual domain of signs makes possible another form of life, another society, free from collective narcissism, as the self is absorbed into the ritual play of signs. The passion for rules drives the self outward.”
