The work is inspired by the world of the deep, the uttered and gestural soundscape of whales. It can be described as an imaginary journey on-or-with a whale, drifting beneath waves, exhaling, crying, communicating with others, while emerging to the surface or immersing to the deep and escaping to the unknown. The contrasting musical elements are employed to symbolise the ideas of ‘power’ together with ‘vastness’ and ‘depth’ found in nature, and especially in the deep aquatic whale-world.
Apostolos Loufopoulos explores the sound of nature creating electroacoustic music and sound art content for media. Soundscape composition, utilising the language of electroacoustic music and convergence with a variety of musical genres is his personal creative approach to sound. Together with Myrto Korkokiou they create works for flute and the electronic medium, exploring the behavioural flute sound in relation to nature with paralinguistic and electronic elements. Their work has been awarded numerous times in well renown competitions internationally and hosted in renown festivals on contemporary and electronic music.
