The rapid evolution of technology seems to push the modern human into a constant effort to adapt, continuously proving their ability to endure, to respond, and to remain available to the demands of a society that is constantly moving at an ever faster pace. I find myself preoccupied with the way we live and react (if we react at all): we often seem mechanical, almost immobilized.

And yet, we continue relentlessly, blindly. I wonder whether, in the name of curiosity, evolution, and progress, humans are tending to transform into machines themselves—performing “basic functions” while degrading their very essence.

I imagine a person running through a swamp.

—Have you ever felt that? (I wonder, and nod my head in agreement.)
—Every day. (Silence.)

—Especially on rainy days. (I laugh.)
