Sailing: the journey of Introspection
Sailing is an intermedia work that translates the personal experience of sailing into an abstract audiovisual journey of introspection. It serves as a creative decoding of the sensations that shape the experience of a race at sea; the uncertainty, the tension, and the confrontation not only with the elements of nature but also with oneself.
The visual environment is built upon a dynamic flow system that simulates the movement of water and air, creating a constantly shifting imagery. A dramatic palette of red, blue, and purple tones enhances the emotional intensity, immersing the viewer in a "digital sea" where the sailing vessel serves as a focal point within the flow.
The soundscape develops organically, capturing the relationship between the individual and the environment; from a calm yet charged state of anticipation to the intensity and unpredictability of a storm, leading toward climax and the continuation of the voyage. The audio fluctuates continuously, creating a profound sense of movement, depth, and immersion.
In Sailing, sound and image function as equal carriers of meaning. The work does not merely represent the experience of the sea; it reconstructs it as an internal path, where the act of navigation becomes synonymous with personal quest and the very act of observation.
