The exhibition of the undergraduate thesis titled “Acoustic Enhancement of Visual Artwork through Soundscape Composition: Investigation of Acoustic Subjectivity in the Relationship between Sound and Image” investigates the role of enhanced audio description of a visual artwork through the listening of three sound works. The focus of the exhibition is the painting “Venice” by Angelos Giallinas. In the practical part of the exhibition, three distinct sonic approaches were designed and implemented: a realistic soundscape, a sonic atmosphere (original works), and a sound work based on already existing musical excerpts of the period. The compositions are integrated into an interactive web application, which is accessible to the visitor through a portable Tablet device, through which they can increase or decrease the volume of each sound work depending on the feeling caused by the visual artwork and their personal preferences, composing their own unique listening experience. In the exhibition space, the visual artwork will be projected through a projector. In front of the image there will be the portable Tablet device, which will be connected to two speakers for stereo reproduction.
Contributors to the undergraduate thesis are Emmanouil Rovithis, Vilelmini Sosoni, and Vasilis Komianos.
