An amateur theatre company struggling to put on a production of Pirandello's "Leonora, addio!" finds its members constantly at odds with each other, while at the same time having to follow the instructions of an authoritarian director who presents their play as nothing less than a gift from God.

The 4th Audiovisual Arts Festival in May 2010 marked the beginning of a strong cooperation between the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and the Department of Music Studies (ERHMME research lab). Ranging from drawing, painting and comic exhibitions to installations and video and 3D animation projections and from graphic design and internet art presentations to electronic and electroacoustic music concerts, a variety of events has taken place in various spots inside Corfu town, giving its residents and visitors the possibility to attend works created by the students of the two art departments of the Ionian University. The festival was organized in collaboration with the European Program Ambiant Creativity Project, the Researching Center ACROE of the Technical University of Grenoble and the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM). The program included workshops and seminars on open coding technologies for interactive arts (openFrameworks, SuperCollider, Arduino), aesthetics and practice of electroacoustic music and experimental radio as a form of art. The 2-day Symposium held in the Ionian Academy was a memorable moment of high scientific and artistic level, with participants gathering from Greece, France, Italy and Germany, and with significant results being presented in the discussion incited under the theme of “Education in New Media Art”. Among the topics developed regarding the relation of art and the technologies of image and sound: Which new forms of expressions result from the possibilities formed by the new technologies? Which new techniques of artistic expression are developed through the use of these technologies? How can these new technologies be taught? How does the accessibility to these technologies affect the creative process as well as the broader audiences participation in modern arts? Can the use of new technologies in arts open new ways of approach to sciences and culture in general? Among the guest-speakers were: Leigh Landy, Claude Cadoz, Ludger Brumer, Goetz Dipper, Marco Maria Gazzano, Robert Cahen, Dimitris Haritos, Anna Hatziyannaki and Michalis Meimaris.
