Imaginary Worlds

In the framework of this year’s festival the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University, organizes a scientific workshop entitled: "Imaginary Worlds – Alternative Readings of Reality"

The workshop, which hosts the participation of eminent specialized scientists and artists, aims to highlight the main features of the Department of Audiovisual Arts. Special emphasis will be placed on the presentation of new technologies in relation to contemporary educational needs in the field of audiovisual media, as well as on their potential applications in the production of models for the interpretation and reconstruction of reality.

Keynote of the festival will be the imaginary worlds as models of gnoseologic, aesthetic and metaphysic approaches of reality, as they articulate in the new methods of recording and representation of the perceivable world.

In the framework of the festival the department will mount an exhibition of the students’ works (photography, drawing, video art, installations, comics and experimental multimedia). The exhibition will take place from May 22 to May 24 2008, in the premises of the Historic Psychiatric Clinic of Corfu, which houses the Department of Audiovisual Arts.

The meeting will take place from Wednesday 21st to Thursday 22nd of May in the Main Hall of the Ionian Academy (Kapodistriou and Akadimias, Corfu).
