To become the new flesh, we first have to kill the old flesh.
-Videodrome (1983)
Bodies that are fragmetned, emptied out and disembodied by contemporary medical aparatus and spread out for viewing by biopolitics, present a unique moment full of potentiality. By leaving them wide open, for everyone to see them inside out, we could be presented with opportunity to reshape them. To prepare for future ecosystems or just for the fuck of it, for fun, as a form of playful speculations of new possibilities.
I will explore the ways of deterritorialization of all too described, named and organized living bodies within a grip of contemporary medicine and biotechnology with the help of reversing organogenesis into undifferentiated state, where they float as a mass of tissues with full potential to become anything.
I will play around with concepts of tissues as plasticine and microorganisms as means for their sculpting, merging bodies into hymeras via multispecies relations and how death and xenobots could play a role in this story.
I draw material for these contemplations from personal and intimate experiences such as working with butterflies in a scientific research laboratory, possession of the other through love, tonsilitis gone bad and abortion.
