Objectives - Learning Results:
Upon the successful completion of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Develop comprehensive and well-articulated art research proposals employing diverse
methodologies and critical approaches outlined in foundational texts.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in independently organising and executing interdisciplinary symposiums or
events, fostering engaging discussions among invited experts and peers.
3. Apply principles of exhibition design to conceptualise and contribute to the realisation of innovative
and impactful exhibition layouts.
4. Collaborate effectively on the creation and publication of scholarly works, utilising various writing
strategies and publishing methodologies discussed in the recommended bibliography.
5. Integrate interdisciplinary perspectives and critical thinking skills into their research practice,
reflecting a nuanced understanding of the complexities within art research and related fields.
Syllabus:
This research module focuses on the planning and resourcing of students’ art research proposals,
with guidance on projects’ objectives and strategies. Each student is requested to present their
project work through a self-directed program of guest artists, curators, writers, academic specialists
and/or institutions facilitated by the student. Students can also get hands-on experience of
exhibition-making and collaborate in publication projects by assisting on the production of the
Audiovisual Arts Festival and on the research developed by the PEARL and InArts Laboratories.
