The Embassy of Mexico send the call for entries to participate in the International Environmental Short Film Festival ECOFILM, which will take place in Mexico from September 29th to October 6th 2019. The deadline for submissions is June 27th 2019.

The SDGs in Action Film Festival, coordinated by the UN DESA Division for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is a competition seeking short films that highlight how people and organizations around the world are taking action for the 17 global goals. The Department of Audio & Visual Arts (Ionian University) is organizing the “Greece – Puglia Experience Screenwriting Workshop“. The Workshop is part of the CIAK (Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema,INTERREG GREECE – ITALY) and the objective is to bring together the areas of western Greece (Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Greece) and Puglia Region through film scripts. During the Linux Audio Conference 2019 (LAC19), that will take place in University of Standford [23-26/3/2019], Ioannis Zannos, Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, will present his project "IDE Fantasy", which is part of the EASTN-DC project and will make a presentation entitled "sc-hacks: A Live Coding Framework for Gestural Performance and Electronic Music". The Info Day in the framework of the CIAK ("Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and Valorize the Tourism Potential of the Program Area through Cinema") project was held with great success on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. In the context of the event, the project actions that are being implemented were presented in detail, with emphasis on the Memory Greece – Italy Call, which aims to finance 10 short film productions, the script-writing seminar, scheduled for three weeks in Corfu, Ioannina and Bari, and the forthcoming animation festival to be held in the city of Corfu.

Inauguration of the digital exhibition on the occasion of the final meeting of "BYZART - Byzantine Art and Archaeology on Europeana" project will be held on the 15th of February 2019 at 10.30 a.m.

Ionian University represented by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts takes part in the project “Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema” (CIAK). The Ionian University, Project Partner of CIAK Project, will organize an Info Day in Corfu on Wednesday 13 February 2019, at 17:00 at Ionian University premises (I. Theotoki 72, Corfu), in order to present the project and its future activities (Greece-Italy Memory Call, an international training seminar for editing and script processing). Special guest of this event the worldwide famous, award-winning director Alexander Avranas who will talk about the contemporary situation in the field of movie direction in Greece. Entrance is free to the public.

On Thursday 10 January 2019, Bill Psarras (Dr.) artist and current postdoctoral researcher (funded by IKY State Foundation 2017-2019) at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Ionian University, will give an invited artist talk entitled "Performing the Poetic and the Technological: Objects and aesthetic walking into place".

The final program of the Third Interdisciplinary Conference "Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science" has just been released. The conference is hosted by the Centro de Cultura Digital (CCD) on November 11th and by the Instituto de Investigaciones Filosoficas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IIFs-UNAM) on November 12-13th.

The third international interdisciplinary conference "Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science" will take place in 11-13 November 2018 in Mexico City, hosted by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the Centro de Cultura Digital. Submissions are welcome from all art and research fields and cutting-edge technology in art research. Deadline for submitting abstracts and short CV: May 12th, 2018.
