The first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University (within the framework of the CIAK Intereg program) will take place in Corfu from the 29th of November until the 1st of December 2019.

The ebook with the proceedings of the interdisciplinary conference Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science 2018 was published by the Ionian University - Department of Audio & Visual Arts in November 2019. This digital publication includes 20 contributions, in English, proposed and accepted by the scientific and artistic committee of TTT2018. Edited by Dalila Honorato, María Antonia González Valerio, Marta de Menezes and Andreas Giannakoulopoulos, this is the second and main core of the presentations of TTT2018.

The aim of the first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, which is organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University (within the framework of the CIAK Intereg program) is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of short animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourage dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.

The Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music Research & Applications [EPHMEE] and the Music Education and Music Psychology Group of the Music Department of Ionian University lend their ears to the Sound Environment and propose a series of educational, research and artistic activities, the last week of June, dedicated to the Soundscape we live in.

The Embassy of Mexico send the call for entries to participate in the International Environmental Short Film Festival ECOFILM, which will take place in Mexico from September 29th to October 6th 2019. The deadline for submissions is June 27th 2019.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts (Ionian University) is organizing the “Greece – Puglia Experience Screenwriting Workshop“. The Workshop is part of the CIAK (Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema,INTERREG GREECE – ITALY) and the objective is to bring together the areas of western Greece (Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Greece) and Puglia Region through film scripts. During the Linux Audio Conference 2019 (LAC19), that will take place in University of Standford [23-26/3/2019], Ioannis Zannos, Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, will present his project "IDE Fantasy", which is part of the EASTN-DC project and will make a presentation entitled "sc-hacks: A Live Coding Framework for Gestural Performance and Electronic Music". The Info Day in the framework of the CIAK ("Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and Valorize the Tourism Potential of the Program Area through Cinema") project was held with great success on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. In the context of the event, the project actions that are being implemented were presented in detail, with emphasis on the Memory Greece – Italy Call, which aims to finance 10 short film productions, the script-writing seminar, scheduled for three weeks in Corfu, Ioannina and Bari, and the forthcoming animation festival to be held in the city of Corfu.

Inauguration of the digital exhibition on the occasion of the final meeting of "BYZART - Byzantine Art and Archaeology on Europeana" project will be held on the 15th of February 2019 at 10.30 a.m.
