TABOO - TRANSGRESSION - TRANSCENDENCE

I am planning to lay off my name and to reject every official document that carries it. In an earlier project I have counted and tattooed numerous names to myself I have been called and entitled so far (currently 950 / see: „what i am“ in the portfolio). In this action I am planning to get rid of the first legal attribution that has been set upon me - my given and registered name. This is an interactive social experiment with uncertain outcome. 

For Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science 2020 I will officially declare my namelessness. I will further cut it out of my ID, passport, drivers license, bank cards, social security cards, membership cards and any other type of document holding it. In an ongoing workspace situation I will then write and print letters to approach german authorities, name registry, my bank, my employer, insurance company, landlord, internet provider, phone service (and so on) to inform them about my decision and the discard of my attribution with the request for new passport documents, membership cards, visa card (and so on) without my name on them. The performative and network based aspect unfolds at this stage when I am trying to convince administrative bodies, company employees and authorities to get official documents, meaning legal proof for myself without fulfilling the most common social agreement of carrying an addressable name. The project might become tricky when I seek to check in online for the flight home or get into the plane to return to Berlin as well as ordering anything on the internet from then on.
