Zoe Lomax is a visual artist and environmental researcher whose work explores how ecological change shapes human emotion and community life. As an MARes student, she is collaborating with local people in Corfu through participatory photography to co-create an exhibition that expresses shared experiences of environmental loss. Her broader artistic practice also includes painting, often working in a surrealist and philosophical style to reflect on human perception, consciousness, and our relationship with the natural world.
Zoe graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a BA in Global Studies, concentrating in Global Development and Sustainability. Her studies were grounded in environmental science and policy and included academic experience at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, where she deepened her interest in global sustainability and cultural exchange. She has also volunteered in Malawi, contributing to community-based development initiatives that continue to inform her perspective on resilience and environmental change. Building on her international experience, Zoe uses research and artistic practice to understand how people sense, remember, and adapt to changing environments.
