Description
The Master of Research (MARes) in Hybrid Arts is designed to bring together the most curious minds under the Ionian University spirit, regardless of geographical location. This English-taught program is primarily conducted remotely, combining asynchronous and synchronous activities, with in-person delivery during intensive short-term residencies (Winter School).
MARes is an advanced, interdisciplinary program that merges artistic practice with academic research, offering a flexible and innovative approach to postgraduate studies. Designed for artists, researchers, and practitioners exploring the intersections of art, science, and technology, MARes provides individualized mentoring, hands-on methodologies, and critical theoretical frameworks.
The program includes core modules in Art Research Methods, Media Archaeology, and Project Sustainability, leading to a self-directed Major Project supported by faculty specialists. With a hybrid structure of online learning, in-person intensives, and sustainable research-led artistic development, MARes fosters experimental inquiry, transdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with renowned international art and science events.
As part of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts at the Ionian University, located in Corfu, Greece, MARes students have the same research accessibility as all postgraduate students of this public higher education institution.
