This intensive week-long program offers MARes and ASFA postgraduate students a unique opportunity to develop their research skills and thesis planning through direct faculty mentoring, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on experimentation. Students engage in live discussions, workshops, and peer exchanges in a stimulating research environment while exploring collaborative methodologies that bridge art and science. The program includes: faculty-led seminars on Art Research Methods, Project Sustainability, and Media Archaeology, students led workshops, and discussion of students project ideas with faculty feedback.

Location & Dates: November 24-28, 2025 at Athens School of Fine Arts Annex in Hydra, an easily accessible island from Athens [Port of Piraeus] via ferry (a 90-minute journey).

Registration: until October 31, 2025 (download, fill, sign and send the registration form) to mares@ionio.gr.

Logistics:

  • Please make sure to Check-in: Nov 23, 2025 (all day) and Check-out: Nov 29, 2025 (all day) at the venue.

  • No extra tuition fee for educational activities

  • Travel expenses and food not covered by organization

  • Free basic accommodation in shared rooms and bathrooms at venue upon request

  • Fully equipped kitchen available for food preparation

  • Attention that Hydra's main port area is relatively flat, with paved streets, cafés, restaurants and groceries stores nearby. However, the island as a whole has mobility challenges, as there are no cars, taxis, or adapted transport options, and movement beyond the harbor towards the venue involves cobblestones and stairs.

  • Remote participation possible for those unable to attend in person upon request

Organization: The Winter School Hybrid Arts Methodology is co-organized by the Ionian University’s InArts Lab on behalf of the Master of Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes) and by the Athens School of Fine Arts’ C’ Sculpture Studio.
