
Maria Papadopoulou is a visual artist working primarily with painting, video art, and interactive installations. She holds a degree from the School of Fine and Applied Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as two master’s degrees: one in Audiovisual Arts from the Ionian University and one in Adult Education from the Hellenic Open University. She earned her PhD in Film Studies from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her work has been presented in six solo exhibitions in Greece and Rome, and she has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Greece and internationally. In 2021, she was awarded Best Screenplay for a Short Film at the 14th Annual London Greek Film Festival, while in 2017 she received an Honorable Mention for Original Screenplay from the Hellenic Screenwriters Association. Her feature-length documentary Autistic Character in Greek Cinema (2022) was selected for and screened at several festivals in Greece and abroad, where it received three awards. Since 2021, she has been a Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University, and in 2022 she taught at the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
