Welcome to the 8th International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2026). DCAC-2026 will again afford an exceptional opportunity for renewing old acquaintances, making new contacts, offering a worldwide connection between researchers and lecturers, from a wide range of academic fields, facilitating partnerships across national and disciplinary borders. This International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges is hosted by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts, Ionian University, and it will be held in Corfu, Greece, on May 8-9, 2026.

The aim of the DCAC-2026 is to bring together technology, art and culture in the Digital Era, as well as to provide a forum on current research and applications incorporating technology, art and culture, to deepen cooperation, exchange experiences and good practices.

Researchers, artists and scholars are encouraged to participate in the discussion about the interaction between interdisciplinary creativity, technology, arts and culture. Authors are invited to present original papers for oral or poster presentation in the fields of New Media Arts and Digital Culture.

Submission Guidelines, Types & Length

You are invited to submit original contributions across the spectrum of digital culture and audiovisual challenges. All submissions must present novel, unpublished research (or significantly extending previous works), innovative practices, or theoretical insights.

  • Full Research Papers: Minimum of 10 “standard” pages + references. Submit comprehensive work with clear research methodology, findings, and scholarly impact.
  • Short Research Papers: Between 5 and 9 “standard” pages + references. Ideal for promising projects in early or exploratory stages.
  • Poster Papers: A concise format of less than 5 “standard” pages. Includes title, author(s), and a brief summary—suitable for visual display during the poster session.
  • Contributions may be submitted in three categories: (i) theoretical study; (ii) empirical research; (iii) practitioner presentation.
  • Should be structured clearly, indicating: the theoretical framework, the research/study design, the methods or instruments, the description of the experiments, etc.
  • Should be submitted in English, the official language of the conference.

Submission & Review Process

  • Submission Process: Provide your full paper, short paper, or poster paper through our submission portal (link forthcoming).
  • Submission deadline: papers are requested to be sent until the 30 November 2025 (14.00 CET).
  • Notification of acceptant/rejection: Acceptance/rejection of submitted papers will be notified to the authors until 31 January, 2026.
  • Camera-ready submission: 15 March 2026
  • Review Criteria: All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review. Evaluation will focus on originality, relevance, methodology or conceptual clarity, and potential impact.
  • All accepted submissions will be published in open access conference proceedings with an ISBN. The proceedings will be submitted for indexing in Scopus. In the event that Scopus indexing is not granted, a backup plan is in place to ensure archiving and long-term accessibility via the National Library of Greece.

Registration:

The conference participation fee is:

  • 120 € (early bird, until April 20, 2025),
  • 160 € (standard),
  • The conference participation fee for students is 90 € (70 € for early birds).

Registration for all participants is made exclusively online, available after the notification date. In case of cancellation, requests submitted before 30 April, 2025 will be refunded 50% of the registration fees. No refund will be available after this date.

Proposals for thematic panel discussions, project presentations and interactive experiences:

We welcome proposals for thematic panel discussions, project presentations, and interactive experiences at DCAC 2026. These formats aim to foster dialogue, showcase innovative work, and encourage audience engagement. We invite submissions from individuals, research groups, industrial organizations, spin-offs, corporations, government institutions, and public administration bodies. Proposals should include a 500-word abstract outlining the concept, participants (if applicable), and format of engagement. Participation costs or technical requirements will be discussed on a case-by-case basis with selected contributors.
