Emmanouel Rovithis serves as Laboratory Teaching Personnel at the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University, teaching graduate and post-graduate courses related to the fields of Art Education, Music Programming, Sound Art, and Gamification. Since 2026 he has been the Artistic Director of the Department’s annual Audiovisual Arts Festival. He holds a PhD in Electronic Music Composition (first-class honours) from the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University in Corfu, Greece, and an MA in Music Composition from the Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge, UK. His research, published in numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings, is focused on Audio Games, Audio Augmented Reality, and Gamification applied in the fields of education, cultural heritage, tourism, entertainment, and music creation. He has also successfully undertaken the roles of concept-, game-, and sound-designer in various EU co-funded projects.
As a music composer and sound designer for theater and cinema Dr. Rovithis has collaborated with prominent directors and choreographers including Aris Biniaris, Mario Banushi, Georgia Mavragani, Esther Andre Gonzales, Justine Goussot and others, and his music has been performed in festivals, exhibitions and theater shows in Athens, Belgrade, Dresden, Amsterdam, Adelaida, Munich, Stockholm, Milan, Cambridge, and Paris. As an instructional designer he has delivered educational software and workshops on behalf of organizations including the Friends of Music Association of the Athens Concert Hall, the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation and the Ionian University.
