Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos is an award-winning Greek director and researcher, best known for his work Flickering Souls Set Alight (2019) and Allimonò (2020).
Iakovos’s pioneering work is a combination of practical filmmaking and academic research. His goal is to narrow the gap between the two. He is directing-writing films and contacting academic research on Media Practice, Film Practice and Film Studies.
At the moment Iakovos is teaching as an academic scholar in the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of Ionian University. He has also started his post-doctoral research in Panteion University, Department of Social and Political Science with Prof. Seferiadis. The title of his research is: “Suspended spaces of memory: Heterotopic historical narratives and contentious politics in contemporary cinematic practice”.
