AI-generated works seem to challenge the old-school droit d'auteur system and its fundamental premise of human authorship. Building on recent regulatory approaches to the protection of such works, this study proposes a three-tier scheme that could clearly define human and AI contributions to works (minimal, assisting or essential) and grant specific moral rights to, but also impose precise moral duties on human authors.
