This workshop explores different creative techniques and approaches that can be used by the documentary director to tell real stories about real lives. We will look at building trust with contributors so that they can be their authentic selves on camera, making use of formal and informal interview techniques to structure the story, using observational filming to drive the narrative, reveal character and create compelling moments in your film, and exploring more highly produced, constructed set ups which in their artifice still represent story and character with authenticity and truth.

Requirements to participate: An interest in documentary filmmaking.
