Apostolos Loufopoulos

Apostolos Loufopoulos, composer / sound artist / music producer, is Assistant Professor at the department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, teaching sound design, sound art, electroacoustic music and soundscape composition. He studied music at the Ionian University, and electroacoustic composition at City University, London, with Denis Smalley (PhD in electroacoustic composition). His works have been awarded prizes at international competitions, such as ‘Ars Electronica’ 2011, ‘NOROIT 2002, Bourges 2003, 2006, 2009, ‘SCRIME’ 2003, ‘Metamorphoses 2002, 2004, 2008’, ‘Space of Sound 2004’, ‘Musica Nova’ 2004, 2014, ‘Franco Evangelisti’ 2006, ‘D.Dragatakis’ 2008. Discography includes CD collections and electronic releases and scores published by Zerboni, Milano, and Just Flutes, UK. He is interested in the sound of the natural environment, and the convergence between musical genres. He has accomplished a post doctoral research and a number of research projects and writings on environmental sound, applications and education. He directs a private sound studio (studio RED) specializing in digital music production. He is a founding of HELMCA (Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composer’s Association and the Greek Society for Acoustic Ecology.
