Creating Virtual Reality Exhibitions with Mozilla Hubs
Date and Time: 29/05/2021 (10:45-12:30)
Fani Tsiamalou, Despoina Sigourtzidou, Vasileios Komianos

The paper explores the capabilities of the open source framework Mozilla Hubs [1] for developing web virtual reality applications in a specific application scenario, which is the creation of virtual reality exhibitions by students and other practitioners in order to be able to demonstrate their works and communicate them to their audience.

Virtual reality exhibitions have been widely proposed for cultural heritage dissemination and for artwork demonstration [2]. During the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting suspension or even cancellation of events causing public gatherings, the demand for virtual reality exhibitions from both organizers and audience has been intensified [3].

The main objective of the presented work is to explore the suitability of Mozilla Hubs for creating virtual reality exhibitions as well as to provide a set of instructions which can be used by practitioners interested in developing their virtual exhibitions with Mozilla Hubs.
