CONCEPT
AI CIRCE is a robotic and virtual female persona, an artificial intelligence philosophical assistant in painting, a remodeler of ideas and forms.
The name AI CIRCE refers to the transformative powers of enchantress Circe.
In a dialogue with the machine, Melanitis paints political and post-mythical portraits with the use of artificial intelligence in the selection, stratification and distortion of images. Four oil paintings , now in progress, are presented in this proposal as a basis to be over painted.
AI CIRCE is a formal technique analogous to the paranoiac-critical method of Salvador Dali , or Giuseppe Arcimboldo s’ reconstruction methods. In- stead of a dream or other surrealistic methods, AI is used as a critical tool in the procedure.
