Artificial Intelligence raises important and critical issues in the fields of ethics and human rights, law, politics and society. Its origins could be traced in the early 40s and 50s when scientists introduced cybernetics. However, the plans and projects for AI declined as they could not be implemented due to technological inadequacy. The considerable improvement in the power of computers and access to massive quantities of data renewed research efforts. At the same time, the debate about ethical implications and moral questions that arise from the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies intensified.

The "digital shift" has already changed the very nature of man: from the "wired" man of the third industrial revolution of computers and cyberspace, we have already passed to the "wirelessly constantly networked" man of smartphones, social media and bots. And from the third industrial revolution we are moving to the fourth, the beginnings of which we are already experiencing. It is the period of humanity in which the physical, digital and biological worlds intertwine with the help of technology that, by exponentially reproducing itself, is already drastically changing not only our conditions of existence and our perceptions of them, but also the human existence in a sense. AI, artificial neural networks and machine learning will determine our conditions of living. Algorithmic bots, as a kind of primitive form of artificial intelligence, are executing tasks in exponential rhythm. Sophia, a humanoid robot, or a chatbot with a face, answers to human questions using human voice. But what is their design basis? What social models will they reproduce? Is prejudice, social distortions, gender discrimination and ideological-political attitudes implanted in their design?

This paper will try to answer to these questions. It will focus on issues concerning human rights, ethics and politics that arise with AI implementation. In the coming years artificial intelligence will play a greater role in our lives so it is of great importance how it is designed, to understand the consequences of the usage and that regulations be adopted in a timely manner.

At the end of the day it’s not just about AI. It’s about our fundamental values that should be respected while we progress technologically. And this is a human and political decision.
