Résumé

Le développement des moyens de communication et, plus particulièrement, de l’internet est considéré par certains chercheurs comme pouvant aboutir à l’émergence d’un cerveau global. Cette conception apparaît dans des travaux français qui se situent dans le prolongement des thèses de Teilhard de Chardin sur la noosphère. Mais ces thèses ont influencé également d’autres travaux, notamment ceux des chercheurs du Global Brain Group puis, plus récemment, du Global Brain Institute. L’identification des principales caractéristiques de cette production intellectuelle permettra de mettre en lumière ses implications épistémologiques, sociales et politiques, auxquelles on peut adhérer ou non.

Abstract

The development of the means of communication and, more particularly, of the Internet is considered by certain researchers as being able to lead to the emergence of a global brain. This conception appears in French works that are an extension of Teilhard de Chardin's theses on the noosphere. But these theses have also influenced other works, in particular those of the researchers of the Global Brain Group and, more recently, the Global Brain Institute. The identification of the main characteristics of this intellectual production will make it possible to highlight its epistemological, social and political implications, to which one can adhere or not.
