The TTTfellows I - Human Oocyte and Collection/Cryopreservation - successfully concluded its sessions from April 17th to 30th (online) and continued on-site from May 1st to 16th, 2023, on Corfu Island. The program, detailed on the Ionian University residencies' website, focused on exploring human oocyte collection and cryopreservation techniques. It engaged a select group of participants, including Lyndsey Walsh and Dr. Aisen Caro Chacin, whose diverse backgrounds and expertise enriched the discussions and practices.
Lyndsey Walsh, an artist, designer, and scholar based in Berlin, delves into the cultural nuances surrounding disease, identity, and speculative narratives on the future. Currently collaborating with Humboldt Universität zu Berlin's Department of Experimental Biophysics, Lyndsey's multidisciplinary approach resonates through their work as a visiting scholar and resident artist, shaping intriguing dialogues at the intersection of art and science.
Dr. Aisen Caro Chacin, a versatile figure blending art, science, and academia, holds positions at the University of Texas Medical Branch and the University of Houston. Her dynamic background spans a spectrum from being an Assistant Professor in Pathology to Adjunct Faculty at the School of Art. With a rich academic journey, including a Ph.D. in Human Informatics from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, Aisen Caro Chacin embodies a fusion of disciplines, contributing significantly to the program's depth and breadth.
Comprehensive documentation comprising photographs, a video mini-documentary, and a Makery article titled "Exploring science and intimacy through artificial reproduction in Greece" provide an insightful perspective on the program's endeavors, capturing its essence and impact. The collaborative efforts and diverse expertise showcased by the fellows underscored the significance of interdisciplinary dialogues in exploring complex scientific and artistic territories.
TTTfellows is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and the Ionian University within the Feral Labs Network have concluded their first round of three Camps and Residencies.
