The project aims to create a performance in the form and tone of a solemn mass or ritual revolving around an avatar of Persephone - and is consequently informed by our understanding and knowledge regarding the eleusinian mysteries. The main themes this modern-day ritual aims to explore are: a) How can ancient religious practices inform a modern-day version of a communal ritualistic gathering? In other words, how would we address our spiritual needs if we were to “update” or “recycle” elements from various cultures? b) In this complex world where sentience has become a challenging concept, is it possible to include AI entities along with humans as part of the ritual?
