Magdalini Grigoriadou is an PhD architect (2014, UPM) on the concept of the imaginary, through the notions of space, time and body in architecture. During last years (2016-2022), she has developed an extended research and network on the interaction of architecture with embodied conditions and transmedia technologies. In her postdoctoral research “Sparágmata” (2016-2017), in Mexico City, she explored the experience of nostos and otherness of the fragmented body in the multidimension contemporary metropolis. Later as PI, in research projects “Disembody” (2018-2021), and “Hybrid Postbodies” (2020-2022), in University of Thessaly (Greece), the focus has been placed upon the emergence of extended experiences of the digital layer overlapping with the physical environment, as part of a wider interest, attending to ideate and produce experimentations on personalized and adequate spaces for habitation. In this vein, in performative technology of VEs (virtual environments), the bodies become the ultimate mediators, between time, space and perception. As adjunct professor she is exploring a new approach of theoretical-practical research, when we understand that the body is the main source of creating and living the space. The purpose is to challenge the idea of the Cartesian duality, proposing a new posture towards a more physical, dynamic and vibrant perception of the space. The architectural structure of the cities is examined beyond its objects -beyond any construction notions- to establish the scale through the (post/trans/meta) body -and the relationships that this body manifests.
