This paper presents an educational approach to the literary works of Kafka that employs practices of hypertext fiction towards creative interpretation and artistic expression. The project was implemented in the context of the course “Augmented Technologies in the Curriculum”, which is part of the ”Pedagogical and Didactical Sufficiency Program” of the Department of Audiovisual Arts at the Ionian University. The participants in the project studied works of Kafka in search of excerpts, patterns, thematics, which were then used as material for the creation of digital spaces in the form of “hypermedia rooms” hosting text, images, and sound. The interlinking of the digital rooms shaped a collective work of hypertext fiction dedicated to immerse learners into an interactive environment of investigation, apposition, interpretation. The authors suggest that studying and creating hypertext fiction is a promising approach to the understanding of concepts related to literature and art.
