Announcement
Tuesday 17 December 2019, time 17-19:00, in the framework of the course "Semiotic Analysis of New Media", Posgraduate Programme Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age, Dr. Tania Tsiridou, teaching staff of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, will present her talk entitled "Semiology of Internet Art". This guest talk will be presented through the web platform v-class, and coordinated by Assistant Professor Dalila Honorato, who teaches the course.

Description
This presentation focuses on the basic features the diverse practices and forms that are specific to internet and post-internet art as well as the technological developments associated with the Net. It’s main themes will be approached through the presentation of essential artworks that have contributed to the development of this field. Part of the discussion involves the reference to the (cyber)cultural and social environment that has shaped this art form such as the issue of communication, commodification, identity and activism among others.

Short Bio
Tania Tsiridou has a degree in Sociology (University of Cologne), a masters in Digital Art Forms (Athens, Academy of Fine Arts) and a PhD in Audiovisual Arts (Ionian University). She has participated and collaborated in multimedia productions, art and research projects. Her research interests include internet based art and interaction technologies in the field of new media arts.
